Discover why Rémy Burcelin chose Toulouse to set up his innovative company Aviwell.
My name is Rémy Burcelin, professor at Paul Sabatier university in Toulouse, and I am a head of laboratory of research at INSERM institute. Basically I spent my scientific life trying to understand the mechanism which do control the fate of nutriments, food, for the control of glycemia and body weight, which is called the energy metabolism. For that matter, over the last decade I did understand what the gut micros do control the fat loading the liver as well as the energy and the glycemia.
Therefore, that fat load, which is a disease in human, turn out to be in different animal models, which are geese and ducks, turn out to a natural mechanism that helps those animals to migrate. Therefore, we spent some time understanding the mechanism through which the gut micros do control the fat loads in geese and duck, thereby producing the first naturally fatty liver which is not a disease.
Based on that scientific concept, in 2015, Rémy Burcelin has decided to found a company: Aviwell. That company has been founded in Toulouse, which is the natural capital of "foie gras" and thereby the new capital of the naturally fatty liver.
Once the company founded in 2015, we decided to increase our network of collaborators, therefore we identified Village By CA. They provide us, not only with a roof and offices, but as well with a large network of collaborators that includes people highly skilled to work with our business model and as well with investors, with whom we had a chance to meet and present the concept, explain the project, and who are going to help us to move forward towards our business model.
Over the last five years, it is about time now to refine our business model and therefore I am proud to announce that a new round of investment will be launched anytime soon within a couple of months, that will allow us to move to our new laboratory, bigger space to produce even more, and third but not the least is for Christmas : I hope you, guys gonna be ready, because we will have lot of “foie naturellement gras” ready to go, and I will just advise you and invite you to look forward and keep in touch with us because there will be some of that naturally product, excellent product for you guys, for Christmas table!
